Let’s Talk... Gel vs Acrylic Nails
Looking to get more than a typical manicure? Then your options fall to Gel nails or Acrylic nails. So which will you choose?
First lets look at Gel Nails!
Gel Nails are a 3-step process of Base Coat, Gel Polish and Top Coat which are each cured under a UV Lamp for up to 120 seconds. This process leaves your nails hardened with a glossy finish and won’t smudge like regular polish.
Quick Facts
Nails last 2-4 weeks - The nail is more flexable compared to acrylics
Removal is safer than acrylic since you soak off soft gel extensions - damage is less of a possibility
Healthier for your nails compared to acrylics becasue there is no use of harsh chemicals
Now lets look at Acrylic Nails!
Acrylic Nails are a mix of polymer powder and liquid monomer that form a paste which is bonded to the natural nail. It’s then given the desired shape, where it hardens in place to add strength, length and thickness to the nail.
Quick Facts
Nails last 6-8 weeks with a fill every 2-3 weeks in between
The removal process can weaken the nails but when done by a professional won’t permanently damage nails
To protect natural nails you should take a break every 3-6 months from getting Acrylics
